The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is currently carrying out a review of waste policy and delivery in England. Go Real were keen to ensure that disposable nappies were considered under that review and so submitted a Call to Evidence, stating concerns and some suggested solutions. Go Real wrote to all MPs and a result Austin Mitchell, MP for Grimsby, put down an Early Day Motion to help better display support for this issue.

Early Day Motions (EDMs) are formal motions submitted for debate in the House of Commons. They are also used for reasons such as publicising the views of individual MPs, drawing attention to specific events or campaigns, and demonstrating the extent of parliamentary support for a particular cause or point of view. An MP can add their signature to an EDM to show their support, and the more support the better the chances of raising the profile of this issue. You can look at the Disposable nappy Waste EDM here.

MPs listen to their own constituency members. You can write to your local MP to encourage them to sign the EDM.
